Red Gum Circuit Trail (Braeside Park)

Red Gum Circuit Trail, Braeside Park, is an all-purpose flat granitic sand trail that takes visitors through areas of large open Red Gum bushland and travels along a large wetland area.

As the trail circulates Braeside Park, the Grade 2 trail can be accessed from any picnic area carpark including Red Gum, Telford and Federation.

Visitors can experience a natural bush setting whilst observing the diverse plants, animals and birds residing in Braeside Park.

Red Gum Picnic Area Toilets Closed

The toilet block at Red Gum Picnic Area at Braeside Park is currently closed until further notice. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working on a solution to restore the toilets. Alternative toilets within the park are located at the Telford Picnic area off Lower Dandenong Rd.

Changed Trail Conditions - Trail Closures

Dingley Recycled Water Scheme construction works will be occurring within Braeside Park from March 2026 until approximately the end of August 2026. 

Park visitors will still have access to the park during this time however there will be significant changes to how some areas of the park are accessed.

From 25th June 2026 until the end of August 2026, it will not be possible to complete the whole park walk as a circuit. A return journey to the wetlands section of the park will be available from the Red Gum Picnic Area or via Phar Lap and Red Gum Trails. Please see the attached map of trail closures to assist in planning your visit. For your safety, please observe all closures.
