Federation Picnic Area (Braeside Park)

Braeside Park Federation Picnic area is the perfect location to spend the afternoon relaxing amongst gum trees or get in early and explore the park in the morning sunshine.

The Federation Picnic area is large open grassy area suitable for picnics, family and friend gatherings and the perfect space for children to run and explore. The large grassy area provides endless opportunities for larger gatherings, fun sporting games with kids or a chance to sit out in the open parkland. View the beautiful tree art sculptures and the Federation Trail muralled arts in the area.

The picnic ground has limited picnic tables and trail seating. BYO gas or liquid fuel bbqs are allowed to be used in this picnic area. It is a short walk to the Telford Picnic Ground accessible toilets.

Red Gum Picnic Area Toilets Closed

The toilet block at Red Gum Picnic Area at Braeside Park is currently closed until further notice. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working on a solution to restore the toilets. Alternative toilets within the park are located at the Telford Picnic area off Lower Dandenong Rd.

Entrance Road Closed to Red Gum Picnic Area

For visitor safety, the entrance road to the Red Gum Picnic area is currently closed due to road conditions. The team is working to have this remediated and the road opened as soon as possible. There is a small 24-hour carpark available and the picnic area can be accessed on foot via the walking trail.
